The newest investigation which was taken by Statistic Bureau shows that the scope of stone industry in Fujian is becoming larger and larger, and the quantities of exportation becomes the number one of China. But the problems such as disorder competition restricting its development.
The investigation also shows that Fujian has already become the largest place of stone manufacture and the largest base of stone exportation. And the annual output and sale has stayed at the first place of China for many years. In 2004, the total production value of construction stone procession was 14.043 billion , the output of slabs (the main is granite slabs and marble slabs) was 53,361,300 square meters, and it took 60% of the total output of China. Granite slabs and its products had been exported 3,404,000 ton, took 72.52% of the total exportation volume.

The investigators found that the supplying of medium class and inferior class stone was over the demanding, the trends was more and more competitive, most products in the market are the style, all of these reasons result the price of stone products declining. For example, the price of tombstone would be 30-40 thousand RMB /m3 . But now it only costs 20 thousand. Slabs(3503#) was used to be US$ 40, but now its even not valued US$10. The price of Peach Blossom Red which origin is Gutian was 90-100 yuan RMB/m2, in 1996.but now its only 22-24 yuan RMB. The price of Fuding Black was falling from 110 yuan RMB/m2 to 60-70 yuan RMB/m2 from 1998 till now.
Beside these, there are still some other factors which restricting the development of stone industry. For example, small scope enterprises, unreasonable product structure, no much high class products, no update technical equipments, low efficiency, bad quality and so on.
